Word For Word is a student-run Literary Journal based in Barrington, Rhode Island. We accept work from students aged 12-18 and accept submissions through instant publication and our Revise & Re-Submit System.  

Fiction & Nonfiction

  • Maximum of 2500 words 
  • Double spaced 
  • Times New Roman 
  • Please upload your submission as a pdf and title it based on the category you're submitting to (ex. "Fiction 15-18").

Poetry

  • No more than 3 Poems at once
  • Double spaced 
  • Times New Roman 
  • Please upload your submission as a pdf and title it based on the category you're submitting to (ex. "Poetry 15-18").  

LGBTQ+

  • Follow the same requirements for Poetry + Fiction (INCLUDING PDF TITLE) 
  • Feel free to include a 250-word summary on the significance of your piece, on a separate page in your submission
